Sol Yurick was the American novelist whose 1965 book The Warriors — a harsh, realistic portrait of Coney Island gang members on a night journey across New York — began the story that Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis have now turned into a Broadway musical. Yurick’s novel inspired Walter Hill’s 1979 cult film before the 2024 concept album carried it to a new generation of fans.
