An anecdote is a short personal story told for entertainment — and a great one can outshine a star’s entire publicity tour. Jenna Ortega’s rock-costume anecdote, told on Late Night with Seth Meyers in October 2026, is a case study: a styrofoam block, a can of spray paint, a headband that said ‘rock,’ and a host ready with a matching story about a trash-bag costume. The anecdote’s afterlife — shared, quoted and re-enacted by fans — is the whole point of telling it well.
