Going Under the Knife

Going Under the Knife

A colloquial phrase for undergoing surgery, especially cosmetic surgery. Sharon Osbourne inverted its usual meaning on The Osbournes Podcast in October 2026: the frightening part, she told her son Jack, was never going under the knife itself. ‘I have when I’ve woken up and seen the mistakes,’ she said of being scared. The reversal — fearing the waking, not the sleeping — became the episode’s most quoted line.
