A dog costume contest is a competition in which dogs are judged on the creativity, craft and humor of their outfits, often with categories for best individual, best group and best theme. At the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, the contest is the main event, with prizes like Best Canine Costume awarded before a crowd. The 2026 winner was a dog named Snickers, judged by a panel that included veterinarian Dr. Kwame Stewart.
