Numbness is a partial or complete loss of sensation in part of the body, often described as tingling, pins and needles, or a limb falling asleep. It can result from pressure on a nerve, poor circulation, injury or diseases that damage the nervous system. Temporary numbness is common and harmless, but numbness that persists, spreads or arrives with weakness can signal a serious condition requiring prompt medical attention.
