Innocence

Innocence is a state of purity and inexperience, characterised by honesty, trust and an absence of cynicism or hidden motives. Innocent characters see the world without the defences adults build, which makes their observations unexpectedly profound and their disappointments especially moving. In storytelling, innocence is rarely naive weakness; it is often the quality that exposes the compromises, grief and kindness of everyone around it.
