Introspection

The practice of examining one’s own thoughts, feelings and motives with honesty and curiosity. Introspection turns attention inward, asking why a person reacted a certain way or repeated a familiar pattern. Used well, it builds self-knowledge that supports better decisions and healthier relationships. Used without balance, it can become rumination, which is why introspection is often paired with therapy, writing or conversation.
