An adaptation is a work reimagined from an existing source in another form. Warriors is a triple adaptation: Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel became Walter Hill’s 1979 film, which inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis’s 2024 concept album, which now becomes a Broadway musical. Each stage of the journey has kept the premise — a gang fighting home across New York — while translating it into a new generation’s language.
