Animal welfare is the field concerned with the health, comfort and humane treatment of animals, spanning shelter policy, veterinary access and everyday standards of care. It is the serious cause underneath the Tompkins Square Dog Parade’s silliness: the event grew from dog-run fundraising and now draws brands, vets and charities. Kismet’s involvement, with a chief veterinary officer focused on underserved pets, reflects how welfare messaging has become central to modern pet culture.
