Best Canine Costume is the headline honor at the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, awarded to the dog whose outfit best combines originality, execution and sheer delight. Past winners have included dogs dressed as landmarks, foods and famous artworks. In 2026 the title went to Snickers, in a field that featured, among hundreds of entries, a dog dressed as a chewing-gum machine and another as a New York City trash can — stiff competition by any standard.
