Blood Clot

A gel-like mass that forms when blood thickens and sticks together inside a vein or artery. Clots are a normal response to injury, helping stop bleeding, but clots that form inside vessels without an injury can block blood flow and become dangerous. If a clot or a fragment travels to the lungs, heart or brain, it can cause life-threatening complications requiring urgent treatment.
