The carriage procession is the ceremonial journey in which the monarch and the visiting head of state ride in horse-drawn state carriages through cheering crowds to the palace. At Windsor it runs from the Royal Dais up to the castle quadrangle. For Oman’s Sultan in October 2026, the procession — soldiers, bands and gilded carriages — converted a diplomatic arrival into the defining public spectacle of the state visit.
