Character Transformation

Character Transformation

A character transformation is the extensive physical and behavioural change an actor undergoes to inhabit a role. Dwayne Johnson’s recent career is a study in it: bulking and breaking down as Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine, then ageing decades for Lizard Music, where grey hair, age spots, earrings and a stooped walk as The Chicken Man made him unrecognisable on the Coney Island set in October 2026. Such transformations signal an actor chasing craft over image.
