The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, part of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, was the first program of its kind to train students as creative entrepreneurs in the music business — part artist, part producer, part executive. EJAE earned her BFA there in 2014.
The institute's emphasis on writing, producing and understanding the industry from the inside maps directly onto the career she built: songwriter first, reluctant star second, and always in control of her own sound.
