Fan outrage is the protective anger audiences aim at anyone they believe has wronged a star they love. After Clarkson’s account aired, Art of Play described itself as the focus of widespread outrage from just one celebrity mention. Fan outrage can defend the powerless, but aimed at a small shop it raises proportionality questions the feud never quite answered — especially once the store’s own detailed version of events entered the record.
