King Charles III (born 1948) ascended the British throne in 2022 after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. As host of state visits, he presides over the Windsor welcome ceremonies, carriage processions and state banquets that crown Britain’s diplomatic calendar. At the October 2026 visit of Oman’s Sultan, Charles led the official welcome at the Royal Dais, with the Prince and Princess of Wales in supporting roles.
