Late Fatherhood

Late fatherhood describes becoming a father at an older than average age, often in one’s fifties, sixties or beyond. It has become more common as careers lengthen and families form later. Older fathers often speak of greater patience, stability and gratitude, while also thinking carefully about time, health and what they hope to pass on to their children.
