Richard Blade is a British-born Los Angeles disc jockey who became famous on radio station KROQ, where his championing of British and American new wave acts helped the genre conquer the United States. At a time when most American radio ignored the new sound, Blade played it passionately and interviewed its stars, becoming a trusted guide for a generation of fans. He shares his memories in the MGM+ docuseries New Wave, premiering in November 2026.
