The samba is a lively Latin dance originating in Brazil, known for its bouncing action, rolling hips and infectious carnival rhythm. On Dancing with the Stars it is one of the hardest dances for celebrities to master, because judges expect authentic samba content — walks, voltas and batucadas — rather than generic party moves.
That authenticity debate sat at the heart of the season 35 feud, when Carrie Ann Inaba criticized Jenna Johnson and Harry Shum Jr.'s samba for lacking traditional content.
