Self-Doubt

Self-doubt is a lack of confidence in one’s own abilities, judgement or worth, often felt most sharply when stepping into unfamiliar or high-pressure situations. Even highly successful people experience self-doubt, particularly after public criticism. Psychologists note it can either paralyse a person or, when managed, sharpen preparation and humility. In creative careers, self-doubt frequently appears at the moment of greatest opportunity.
