A senior royal is one of the highest-ranking members of a royal family, typically the monarch, their consort, the heir and their immediate family. Senior royals undertake the most significant state duties, represent the Crown at major national moments, and anchor the line of succession. Their movements, schedules and relationships attract intense public interest, and their engagements are coordinated to protect the institution’s dignity and reach.
