A sideline report is a broadcast segment delivered by a reporter positioned at field level during a sporting event. Sideline reporters provide injury updates, coach interviews and atmosphere from close to the action, adding immediacy that the main commentary team cannot supply. The role demands quick information gathering and has produced some of sports broadcasting’s most recognizable personalities.
