The horror film is the genre of fear, monsters and the uncanny — and the genre that made Jenna Ortega a star through Scream and her gothic work in Wednesday and Beetlejuice. Her fluency in it appears to be lifelong: on Late Night with Seth Meyers in October 2026 she recalled dressing for Halloween as the Invisible Man, a foundational horror film figure, alongside her styrofoam rock and Björk’s swan dress. Few horror stars have ever been so clearly foreshadowed by their childhood costumes.
