Cruel Intentions

Cruel Intentions

Cruel Intentions is the 1999 teen drama that reimagined the French novel Les Liaisons dangereuses among wealthy Manhattan private-school students. Selma Blair played the innocent Cecile Caldwell, opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon, in the breakout role that made her a star. The film’s mix of glamour and cruelty made it a defining late-nineties title, and Blair’s wide-eyed performance remains a fan favorite, frequently revisited at nostalgia conventions like 90s Con.
