Sunday Rose Kidman Urban is done pretending the family name on her birth certificate has nothing to do with her career. In a strikingly candid new Cover Story for Vogue Germany, published on Tuesday, October 20, the 18-year-old Fashion Model — and daughter of Oscar winner Nicole Kidman and Grammy winner Keith Urban — opened up about what it really means to build a modeling career when your parents are two of the most famous people on the planet.
“I’m very aware that I’m given opportunities that not everyone can have, and I’m truly grateful to be able to take advantage of them,” Sunday Rose told the outlet, in the kind of directness that is rare from a Celebrity Offspring still in her teens. She added that she arrives at every job with a deliberate mindset: “So when I’m at work, I make sure to always give my best, never come to work with a negative attitude, no matter how tired or jet-lagged I may be, and treat everyone with respect.”

October 2024 marked Sunday Rose’s Runway Debut, when she walked in Miu Miu’s Spring/Summer 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week on October 1, 2024. The moment made headlines around the world — and, by her own admission, left her completely unprepared for what modeling actually demands.
“I remember arriving there and thinking I knew so much about modeling, but in reality, I knew nothing at all,” she admitted to Vogue Germany. “There’s so much work behind a show, so many people, so much organization — it’s truly insane. And it’s very inspiring to see it all!”
It is a refreshingly honest assessment from someone who grew up watching her mother command red carpets. Sunday Rose also revealed that Kidman set a firm rule before any of this could happen: she could not start modeling until she turned 16 — a full two years after she first expressed interest at age 14. The boundary, she implied, gave her the space to decide for herself whether this was a real ambition or a passing teenage fascination.

Since that first walk, Sunday Rose’s Supermodel-in-the-making résumé has grown fast. She has participated in shows across New York, Milan and Paris, most recently walking in the Valentino show on October 4 — just weeks before her Vogue Germany cover landed.
The pace is remarkable for someone still finishing high school. But the 18-year-old insists she has a system for keeping the two halves of her life in balance, and it starts with something surprisingly ordinary: school.
“Funnily enough, I think school is what keeps me grounded the most when I’m modeling,” she said. “When I started, I wasn’t sure how to cope with the contrast between those two worlds. But now I’ve found a way to enjoy modeling, traveling and experiencing all these amazing things with these amazing people, and then coming back here and enjoying the comforting feeling of routine and going to school.”

That grounding, she says, has changed how she operates. Sunday Rose describes herself as less of a “procrastinator” these days, relying instead on structure: “I need to make sure I hand in my assignments on time, because that’s no excuse,” she said — the modeling, the travel and the jet lag granting her no special treatment in the classroom.
Now she is looking ahead to the next chapter. The teenager is starting her college applications and says she wants to “enjoy this final year” of high school — even as one of fashion’s most-watched new faces.
A Met Gala Moment to Remember
If the runway is her workplace, the Met Gala was her coronation. Sunday Rose attended her first Met Gala alongside her mom this past May, making her one of the youngest attendees of the evening alongside Beyoncé’s 14-year-old daughter Blue Ivy. While Kidman turned heads in a sequin Chanel feathered gown, Sunday Rose wore a pink Dior couture dress — a mother-daughter red-carpet moment that instantly became one of the night’s most-shared images.
It was the kind of entrance most models wait years for. But the Vogue Germany interview suggests Sunday Rose is thinking less about the spectacle and more about the Work Ethic behind it — showing up prepared, treating crews with respect, and earning her place on the runway one show at a time, famous last name or not.
What the Industry Sees in Her
Casting directors who have worked with Sunday Rose describe a teenager who behaves nothing like the stereotype of a privileged newcomer. She arrives early, learns the choreography of the Catwalk with the focus of an athlete, and asks questions instead of assuming she knows the answers. It is exactly the approach her mother praised when Kidman spoke about watching her daughter take the Miu Miu runway for the first time — proud, but deliberately hands-off, letting the teenager own both the triumphs and the learning curve.
Designers, for their part, keep booking her. Between the Miu Miu debut and the Valentino walk, Sunday Rose has become a fixture of the European circuit, with editors noting that she photographs with an ease that cannot be taught. The Vogue Germany cover — her biggest editorial moment yet — cements what the runways have been suggesting for two years: this is not a famous daughter dabbling in fashion. It is a working model with a plan, a schedule, and a school timetable she refuses to miss.
