Jordyn Woods Says She’s ‘Still Not in the Era of Trying to Get Pregnant’ After Wedding to Karl-Anthony Towns

Two months into married life, Jordyn Woods is in no rush to start the next chapter. The designer and model, 29, appeared on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle on Friday, Oct. 23, and opened up about her recent wedding to New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns, 30 — including whether the newlyweds plan to expand their family after their August nuptials. Her answer was candid, funny and completely unhurried.

“Still Not in the Era of Trying”

“It is crazy because I feel like we spend so much of our life as women trying to not get pregnant that when we want to get pregnant, we don’t know what’s going to happen,” Woods said. Then came the line that set the tone: “I am still not in the era of trying to get pregnant, so in a perfect world we will have family and kids. We love children,” she continued. “It’s just I’m really focused on my career and hopefully the Knicks winning again that I don’t want to be pregnant for that.” Hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones encouraged her to take her time — advice the new bride seems happily committed to following.

A Star-Studded Malibu Wedding

Woods and Towns married during a star-studded Malibu wedding in August, exchanging vows surrounded by family and friends — including some of Towns’ NBA teammates, Kylie Jenner and her boyfriend Timothée Chalamet, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Teyana Taylor, Michael B. Jordan, Jada Pinkett Smith, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor. Woods wore a white strapless gown with a full skirt, paired with a long tulle veil trimmed with lace, while Towns sported a dapper black tuxedo with a double-breasted jacket and bow tie. By Woods’ own telling on the show, she was a remarkably relaxed bride — the day’s only real stress was a temporarily missing veil, which turned up in time for her walk down the aisle.

The couple also honored two people who could not be there: Woods’ father, John Woods, who died in 2017, and Towns’ mother, Jacqueline Cruz-Towns, who died in 2020. Rather than making the tributes a prominent part of the ceremony, they chose quieter gestures — a chair for each of them in the family section, dressed with flowers, during a ceremony Woods described as short and sweet, with the couple’s vows exchanged privately.

Friends First, Then Everything Else

The foundation under all of it is time. Woods and Towns began dating in 2020 after being close friends for years, and both have credited that long friendship as the basis of their strong romantic relationship. They announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post on Christmas Day last year, sharing photos of Towns down on one knee at Overstory, a rooftop bar in New York City, and a look at Woods’ emerald-cut diamond engagement ring. “Marry Christmas,” they captioned it. In a November 2023 interview with PEOPLE, Woods named the key to the relationship: “Friendship and trust. We were really good friends before we started dating, and COVID gave us that free time in our life to really get to know each other… So, we’ve been through a lot together. We’ve seen each other in all different ways, times, phases, so I think we have a very strong foundation.”

Career, the Knicks — and Kids in Their Own Time

So the order of operations, for now, is clear: her career, his season, and children in a “perfect world” that she is in no hurry to schedule. It is a strikingly relaxed stance from a 29-year-old newlywed fielding the question every new bride gets asked — and Woods delivered it with the ease of someone whose marriage began as a friendship and has never needed to perform for anyone. Family, when it comes, will come on the couple’s own timeline: after the career goals, after the Knicks’ run, and exactly when the era feels right.

A Bride Who Stayed Calm

The Today appearance doubled as a wedding debrief, and its most revealing detail was not the guest list but the bride’s temperature. The veil — long, tulle, trimmed with lace, and fully custom — had been left behind at the Airbnb, discovered missing only as the ceremony approached. A replacement was being arranged through the dress designer’s Los Angeles showroom when the original was recovered. Woods’ verdict on herself, delivered with a laugh: everyone told her she was the most chill bride they had ever met, and the missing veil was the only stress of the day. For a wedding that hosted NBA teammates, two Jenners-adjacent pop stars and half of Hollywood’s group chats, that is a remarkable review.

The couple had been in front of the cameras together all year — they attended the 2026 ESPY Awards at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center on July 15, 2026, weeks before the wedding — and the ease Woods showed on the Today couch is the same ease she brings to the baby question. She is a designer and model with a career she names first, married to a 30-year-old NBA star in the middle of a championship window, and her position is simply ordered: career, season, then family — in a perfect world, and on nobody’s schedule but theirs.

There is a reason the clip traveled. The newlywed baby question is a talk-show ritual, and Woods answered it the way she seems to do everything — without flinching and without a script. She named the irony every woman recognizes, stated her era plainly, and moved on. If the wedding showed how this couple celebrates, the Today interview showed how they decide: together, calmly, and in their own order.
