Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig have found their own happy ending. PEOPLE announced on Oct. 21 that the couple — who found love after their ex-spouses Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes started dating — got engaged in the spring of 2026, after more than three years together. From unexpected beginnings to an Engagement, here is everything to know about their relationship.
The Melrose Place alum and the immigration attorney began dating after their respective divorces from former GMA3 co-anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, whose workplace romance rumors made headlines in November 2022 and led to them being temporarily removed from the morning news program before officially moving on in January 2023. Shue and Fiebig were married to their exes for over a decade and grew close in the months that followed — and now, the pair are starting a new chapter together as fiancés.

Although Shue and Fiebig didn’t get together until 2023, the pair have known each other for years through their exes. Robach joined ABC News in 2012, while Holmes came on board in 2014. They later became co-anchors of GMA3: What You Need to Know in 2020. During these years, Shue and Fiebig were seemingly friendly with each other and spent time together in group settings, per several old posts on Fiebig’s Instagram.
In February 2017, Fiebig attended a birthday celebration for Shue with several of her then-husband’s Good Morning America colleagues, including Robach, Michael Strahan and Sara Haines, among others. Nobody at that party could have predicted what would come six years later.
PEOPLE Confirmed the Romance in December 2023
One year after Robach and Holmes’ romance made headlines, sources told PEOPLE in December 2023 that Shue and Fiebig were dating. Page Six had reported that they had been together for about six months at the time. Coincidentally, PEOPLE and Page Six‘s report came the same day as the premiere episode of Robach and Holmes’ iHeartRadio podcast, in which they clarified the timeline of their relationship and denied cheating on their ex-spouses.
Two months after the reports of Shue and Fiebig’s relationship surfaced, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE that they seemed to be “going strong.” “Marilee and Andrew are going strong,” the source said. “She seems really happy with him.” Shue shared a similar sentiment in December 2024 while appearing on the Still the Place podcast, saying he was “doing very well” and was “very happy.”

Fiebig and Shue kept their romance mostly out of the spotlight, but they made their first public appearance as a couple at the 2024 Grassroot Soccer World AIDS Day Gala in New York City in December 2024, one year after the news of their relationship first surfaced. Fiebig later shared a photo from the date night on Instagram, marking Shue’s first appearance on her account since they became a couple.
Then, on Oct. 21, came the news that turned this unlikely Celebrity Couple into celebrity fiancés: Shue and Fiebig had gotten engaged in the spring of 2026 after more than three years together. “I don’t know how it happened, but there’s a happy ending,” Shue told PEOPLE. “I had to accept my own part in marriage not working out for me and in not understanding myself well enough and not understanding what matters in a relationship well enough to find the right person for me, and that has been an extraordinary gift.”
“I had to grow through a lot of pain and a lot of struggle and a lot of humility,” he added. “I think the magic of love is when you go from a need to giving.” The news of their engagement came just one week after PEOPLE revealed that Robach and Holmes had gotten married in September 2026 — a remarkable coda to one of the most talked-about Celebrity Splits of the decade, with both new couples now heading down the aisle.

Shue has been strikingly reflective about how the relationship changed him. “You don’t know how you meet the person who’s right for you,” he told PEOPLE. “It just happened. And you can say how it’s just this kind of freak luck that this is how you ended up getting to know that person in a way that would allow you to reveal yourself and for her to reveal herself.”
Continuing to reflect on their unconventional love story, Shue said that this just happened to be their way of growing close during a time where they “both needed a friend.” It is a long way from the Divorce headlines of 2022 — and, by his own account, exactly where he is meant to be.
What is striking about the engagement is how long the couple kept it to themselves. Spring to October is half a year of knowing — of wearing the ring, telling family, and living with the secret while the world speculated about everything except this. For a pair whose romance began under a microscope, that privacy was a luxury they clearly savored.
For now, the couple’s story stands as proof that even the messiest beginnings can lead somewhere beautiful.
