Allison Holker is back home — and this time, home means Utah. The professional dancer, 38, has reflected on leaving Los Angeles to build a new life in the Beehive State with her fiancé, tech CEO Adam Edmunds, in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. Holker relocated in February 2026, the same month Edmunds proposed, and she describes the move as a return to her roots as much as a fresh start.
Holker spoke at Dancers Against Cancer’s 2026 Industry Dance Awards in Los Angeles on Oct. 21, an appearance that brought her back to the city she recently left. The event, run by Dancers Against Cancer, gave her the stage to explain why Utah — not California — is where her family now belongs.
“I absolutely adore Utah. It is absolutely stunning. It’s beautiful,” the Dancing with the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance alum said. For Holker, the state’s appeal is personal before it is scenic. “I’m actually a Utah native. That is where I grew up,” she continued. “My whole family is there: my parents live there, my brothers and sisters, and my kids, their cousins are there.”

Relocation stories are common in celebrity life, but Holker frames hers as a homecoming. Alongside her parents and siblings, she has reconnected with the friends she has kept since she was a teenager. “I [also] have my same friends from high school, and it’s been a dream to be back,” she added. That circle — family, cousins for her children, and old friends — is the foundation she wanted underneath the next chapter of her life.
The move also followed one of the happiest milestones of her recent years. Holker and Edmunds, 45, announced their engagement in February, after Edmunds proposed during a surprise 38th birthday party he organized for her. Holker revealed the proposal a week later in an Instagram post, calling it “the most romantic night” of her life. The couple made their relationship public in September 2024, and the engagement set the timeline for the relocation that followed that same month.
Of Edmunds, Holker could hardly be warmer. “And, of course, I’m there with my fiancé, which is just wonderful. Adam is such a delight. He’s so good to me and my kids. I can’t even rave about him enough,” she said.

In Utah, Holker and Edmunds have merged their households into one blended family. Holker is mother to three children — Weslie, 18, Maddox, 9, and Zaia, 5 — while Edmunds is father to a son, Cole. Holker says the state has proved ideal for raising them all. “It’s so perfect for raising children,” she explained of relocating hundreds of miles away from Los Angeles. “It has been the biggest change for them, but in a really, really wonderful way.”
The everyday details are what she treasures most. “My children get to run around freely in the neighborhood and have friends that they just get to go meet up with,” the mother of three continued. After years lived in the glare of Los Angeles, the family has found room to breathe. “We, as a family, have been able to let our guard down and just exist and experience every single day from a little bit of a more lighthearted space,” she added.
Honoring the Past While Building the Future
The new chapter comes more than three years after the death of Holker’s late husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, the beloved dancer and The Ellen DeGeneres Show star who died by suicide at age 40 in December 2022. Holker and Boss married in 2013, three years after meeting on So You Think You Can Dance, and shared Maddox and Zaia together, while Boss adopted Weslie.
Holker says Edmunds does not shy away from that history — he embraces it. Asked how her fiancé honors Boss, she told PEOPLE: “It’s really beautiful to see him when he talks about my late husband with my children.” She added: “It is never a secret. It’s something that we celebrate and we talk about, and we only want to remember his memory in such a loving, light way.”

Holker’s Utah life holds both at once — the memory of the husband she lost in 2022, and the fiancé, the hometown and the lighthearted daily rhythm she has built since February. On Oct. 21 she was back in Los Angeles for one night, celebrating dance and the community that raised her career. Then she went home — to Utah, where home now truly is.
Why the Oct. 21 Night Mattered
That Holker chose to share all of this in Los Angeles, at an event celebrating dancers, was fitting. The Industry Dance Awards honor the dance community that shaped her — the world of So You Think You Can Dance, where she first met Boss, and of Dancing with the Stars, where she became a household name as a professional. Returning to that stage as a guest rather than a resident carried its own symbolism: Los Angeles is now where she visits, celebrates and works. Utah is where she lives.
Her description of the state keeps returning to its beauty — “absolutely stunning” — but the substance underneath is people. Parents in the same state. Siblings nearby. Cousins for Weslie, Maddox and Zaia to grow up with. High-school friends whose bond predates fame entirely. Add Edmunds, whose proposal in February turned a birthday party into the start of this chapter, and the picture is complete: a dancer who spent years performing for audiences has built a home life that asks nothing of her except to be present for it. That, more than the scenery, is what she says Utah has given her family — the chance to let their guard down, together, every single day.
