Speaking to Glamour earlier this year, Moore expressed gratitude that her children spend time with families whose values reflect her own. She also described the friendships she has formed through parenthood as unexpectedly meaningful connections in her adult life.
Her friendship with Duff drew attention earlier in the year when Ashley Tisdale’s comments about a mom group sparked speculation about their circle.
In a January essay for The Cut, Ashley Tisdale explained why she stepped away from a circle of fellow mothers. She described feeling excluded by smaller friendship cliques and separate chats, sometimes learning through social media that others had met up without inviting her.
Tisdale did not name anyone involved. Fans nevertheless linked her account to earlier photos featuring Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, Gaby Dalkin and Meghan Trainor. Those connections fueled online speculation, but the essay did not confirm who she was discussing.
During her February 25 appearance on Call Her Daddy, Hilary Duff discussed the speculation after host Alex Cooper asked about the alleged mom-group tensions.
The Lizzie McGuire star said Tisdale’s essay had caught her off guard and left her feeling deeply saddened.

Duff said she was taken aback by the essay and found it upsetting to read claims she considered inaccurate. She also discussed her husband Matthew Koma’s sharp reaction to Tisdale’s article.
The musician recreated Tisdale’s pose on The Cut, but added the headline: “When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers.”
“Honestly, everything he does makes me laugh,” the “Mature” singer told Cooper. “So I was like, ‘Oh my God. Oh my God.’ But I also don’t censor him, and I don’t tell him what he can and can’t post. He is so, like, fierce for me, and, like, I love him for that.”
Representatives for Duff and Tisdale did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment on Oct. 10.
